I remember the heatwave of 40 years ago - a collection of memories of blue skies, sunshine and a little boy in my class of infants who cried because the grass was brown and not green! What memories will the heatwave of 2017 present? The media regales us with suggestions of disaster; consider the headline, “400 more deaths on account of the heat.” As the temperature rises- might I make the total 401!? A Song for Manchester
As we enjoy the glory of a hot sunny day with blue sky, trees in full foliage and birds in joyful song, the callous slaughter in Manchester is hard to comprehend. I recollect a caretaker I met, in a Yorkshire school on the edge of Saddleworth moor. This rolling expanse of heather and gorse became notorious because of the evil actions of Myra Hindley and Ian Brady. This lady would gaze across the colourful moorland and exclaim. "How could they do such a thing to innocent child
